Dr. Fieve, M.D. is Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, Chief of Psychiatric Research at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, Principal Investigator at Fieve Clinical Services, Inc. and a founder of the non-profit Foundation for Mood Disorders, Inc. in New York City. Internationally renowned, Dr. Ronald R Fieve, an American pioneer in the development and use of lithium in the manic depressive disorders, is also the foremost expert on the use of antidepressants, including Prozac, for depressive disorders.

Dr. Fieve received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, completed his residency in internal medicine at the New York Hospital and his psychiatric and psychoanalytic training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. He has published and presented extensively at scientific meetings on the clinical aspects, diagnosis and treatment, as well as the multifactorial causes of mood disorders. He is a member of various professional organizations including the American Psychiatric Association, which has elected him to be a Life Fellow in recognition of his significant contributions to psychiatry.
