An increasing number of independent physicians are joining one or more of these plans. Most HMOs have rigorous physician selection criteria, quality assurance programs and strong membership support. You may be offered the opportunity to join one or more through your employer. Carefully read the literature provided by any plan, keeping in mind how you expect to use services. Select the plan which best supports your needs. It is a good idea to call or visit the HMO or proposed primary care physician. Ask questions not answered in the literature, talk with staff and determine the prevailing ambiance.
The managed care plan and HMO subscribers on Doctorline encourage you to contact them by phone, fax or E-mail to ask questions or request information.
